Meet Dr. Richard PattonPsyD., R.Psych.
Dr. Richard Patton’s goal is to help people reclaim their lives. He assists clients with overcoming trauma, anxiety, depression, stress, and anger so they can begin to feel like themselves again. He takes an open and collaborative approach, taking care in creating a warm, respectful environment, and in tailoring treatment to each client’s unique needs and circumstances. He values ongoing feedback from clients, allowing for transparency and collaboration in treatment and for the development of a strong, effective therapeutic alliance.
Throughout his clinical training and career, Dr. Patton has worked within diverse organizations including Veterans Affairs Palo Alto Health Care System in California, the Worker’s Compensation Board of Alberta, and Alberta Health Services. He uses an integrated approach within a Cognitive-Behavioral framework, incorporating a range of empirically based treatments such as exposure-based treatment for anxiety disorders, and prolonged exposure and cognitive processing therapy for PTSD. These treatments assist clients in developing greater understanding and different perspectives, establishing new coping strategies to better manage their concerns.
Dr. Patton is a member of the Canadian Psychological Association, American Psychological Association, the British Psychological Society, and is registered with the College of Alberta Psychologists.
